Effective but not without problems

Just received and in the middle of two other published reviews. The screen is spectacular. You *can* tell what webpage a person is on by the large banner, but the details are more than hidden. When you're sitting next to a computer (like on an airplane), you can't see the text in an email or the numbers in a spreadsheet. However, it definitely reduces the brightness and clarity to the point where I find it annoying. I can only use it when traveling or in public places. Bottom line - quite…

It works! Not as good as the Gold versions on thicker laptops though.

The tolerances on the MacBook are very tight, so 3M had to create a new, thinner privacy filter. It works - the laptop still closes, although you can feel the keys hitting the lid. If you don't want keyboard fingerprints on the privacy screen, it's best to place a thin cloth between the screen and the privacy screen when putting your MacBook in a laptop sleeve, but of course don't close it then. pretty tight, but that's the price you pay for using privacy filters on a laptop this thin. The…

Works with some limitations

We have to agree with other reviewers. I think it does the job on point. Unfortunately, with the screen at full brightness (or more than 50% brightness), the person sitting next to you will most likely be able to see your screen. I'm not sure if 60 degrees is accurate. Luckily where I am every day there is a seat between me and the next person so they have a steeper viewing angle (75-80 degrees). As another reviewer mentioned, at lower screen brightness you lose the absolute clarity associated…

Decreases Retina display clarity + minimally effective

I guess being first isn't always better. There were no reviews for this product so I had to be a guinea pig. Looks like the game didn't pay off. After seeing the performance of the 3M privacy filter on a colleague's Macbook Pro (non-Retina), I thought I had a pretty good product. I was wrong. At any brightness above the lowest setting, onscreen content is only minimally dimmed/dimmed and is otherwise nearly perfectly viewable from almost any angle outside of the advertised 60-degree field of…
