But it works. in Camping & Hiking

You need lots of sun and no clouds at all. It works, but the conditions outside must be pretty clean. When it's clear outside, it doesn't take long to light a hemp wick, shredded tinder, or other fire starter.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • I don't remember

Not what I ordered!

The photos show that the company sent me a mirror, not 4 lenses. I looked forward to using this lens as stockings for my brothers and father. The mirror looks high quality. This is not what I ordered.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Long delivery time

In the end a successful purchase.

This is one of those online purchases where you don't know the quality until you get it - I'm happy with the result - not too thin as I feared. Of course it's also one of those little things where you only need 1 or 2 but end up having more than you need.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Unnecessary features

Second time I bought this

It works like a charm. I keep one on my desk at work and at home and in my car. Finally, I got this because of the magnifying glass. I use a magnifying glass regularly. Finally, I carry it in my EDC bag in case I ever need to start a fire. Incidentally, the best results when starting a fire are achieved when the sun is shining brightly. Cloudy or overcast days are more of a nuisance.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Compact Fresnel Lens

I bought this Fresnel Lens to replace an aging Mini Fresnel Lens I was carrying in my wallet. The old lens has been worn and scratched in my wallet for over ten years and no longer gives clear magnification. With "microprinting” so prevalent these days, I often find that prescription glasses alone are NOT enough. These Fresnel lenses were an inexpensive way to "upgrade" the performance of my new prescription glasses.

Pros
  • Elegant Design
Cons
  • Quality

No detonator for emergency detonator

As a magnifying glass it's ok - not good - it enlarges the picture. It's lightweight and fits in your wallet. Calling him an arsonist is an exaggeration. It does not provide accurate focusing of the sun's rays. The Fresnel lens doesn't have enough focusing power to do the job effectively. magnifying glass. If you want to start a fire, get a real magnifying glass.

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Great for your 72 hour kit

This is a very economical unit to add to your 72 hour kit. Its weight is very light since it is made of plastic, and the green cover perfectly protects the device from scratches. I looked at the fire making options and here in Phoenix it's just great! I've used it on my grill and briquette launcher and it's great (as long as it doesn't give off smoke). These green plastic cases would be awesome if you could use them as business cards!

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Nice little lenses.

There's nothing special about that. The charred fabric caught fire in about 16 seconds on a sunny day. The dark birch took about 45 seconds. They are lightweight and easy to use. Good lens for survival and bushcraft. They're made out of thin plastic, so they won't take a lot of abuse, but they don't have to. (Note: Don't try running light tinder with solar ignition, it takes a long time and may not work at all. Many beginners make this mistake, blaming the lens. They need dark colors that…

Great product, great price!

Pocket-sized Fresnel lens! 5 arrived as I ordered and all are in perfect condition and each lens comes with its own protective cap to prevent scratching. I've always used them for back up fires (but they only work with light and it doesn't have to be sunlight, I've seen people use LEDs and it works). It also has some magnification. If you've never used it, it's just a magnifying glass in your pocket. Lighthouses use the same principle to project light for sailors but on a larger scale, but the…
