📻 GE 74292 Spacemaker Radio/CD Player: Compact and Convenient Entertainment (Discontinued Model) Review

We have our third GE/CD player and it is not working stably. A CD will often skip or not play at all, or play a few songs well and then skip or stop. The radio and remote control work well, it's a CD function that we found lacking.

This is an amazing thing. So you can listen to the radio or your favorite CD while cooking without worrying about carrying a portable radio around the house. This is the best. Installation is very easy, the sound quality is amazing and the simple convenience of having music in your kitchen is worth it to me.

This is my NEW wedding gift for the bride and groom. It is convenient and takes up no counter space as it installs under an existing shelf. EVERYONE likes to listen to something while eating and/or cooking, so take your pick – CD or radio while you chew. Newlyweds always stop me on the street to tell me what a wonderful gift this is. I was very impressed with the sound quality of this player. I also liked the additional lighting under the counter. However, both our first and second devices stopped working after about 3 days. The clock stopped working and all switches led to radio noises, which meant that CDs could no longer be played. My husband wonders if this is a design flaw as the unit gets very hot with the gauge left on. I'm willing to try again, but if number 3 doesn't work, I'd wait for the redesign.

Like the other reviewer, we received two faulty models. Unlike her, we've never heard what a CD player sounds like. The radio sounded pretty good for its price and I suspect the CD would have sounded the same, but we couldn't get either unit to work as a CD player. Worse, the GE department responsible for this model has terrible customer support.
