Make sure you set it to vacuum!

This seems to be a good quality. Good value for money. If you're using this to bleed the brakes, be sure to twist the cuff at the end to create a vacuum rather than forcing air. I have no idea why they set it to airflow, but it is. Imagine my joy and excitement when I think I'm creating a vacuum at the exhaust valve and then I hear air bubbles coming out of the brake fluid reservoir. Luckily it wasn't pushing air through the entire system and I was able to fix that.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons

Great tool for me

I'm a mechanic in a chainsaw shop and use it every day to check the pressure and vacuum in the crankcases of small 2 stroke engines. I've also used it to bleed and change the hydraulic clutch oil on my off-road bike, as well as a number of other uses. It's solid and well built. I'm giving it 4 stars overall because I wish the hardware that came with it was a bit more powerful. Rubber becomes quite pliable in any heat above average room temperature.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Not suitable for bleeding brakes

I was hoping to use this device to bleed my brakes. He claims the suction power is -20, but even with the tube closed, it barely gets to -10. The stroke is very short and it takes a lot of pumping to get the low suction it's capable of. It looks nice and comes in a good kit, but it's practically useless for bleeding the brakes. Eventually a friend came over to me and did the old fashioned foot-on-the-brake technique and I was done in 15 minutes after spending several hours hand pumping. My hand

  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Buy cheap, buy twice

I used this product to check the bottom block pressure on my outboard. Simply put, it took an inordinate number of pumps (100+) to build up the pressure (5-7 psi). I would not waste your money on this product. The instructions are poorly written and full of errors. Any reputable company making a quality product would never allow it to be released and distributed. Crate.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

Overall it's not bad, but it could be better.

overall not bad not as good as I would like. I can pull -20 cm of pressure when I'm working on it. The tips didn't help. The hose becomes cloudy after being used to bleed brake fluid. It works, but I had to buy my own cell phone. A tip for suction bleeders who have always resorted to the pump method: Almost all brake bleeders bleed around the threads. Take them off and cover them with silicone or teflon tape before attempting to vacuum them out. Losing a small amount of fluid in this case is…

Perfect straight out of the box!

Used to crimp the lower block gear on Evinrude 70 HP Worked well for this purpose, has not been used for vacuum testing or brake bleeding. There may be some (very light) bleeding tested at 10psi and dropped to 8 in about 10 minutes. This most likely happened on the hose on one of the fittings or on the part that was screwed into the body, neither the pressure gauge nor the places where they were screwed into the body used hose clamps or sealing threads. I'm pretty sure if I took these measures…

Easy repair for a leak that shouldn't have been there when I first got it

Received my vacuum pump today and straight out of the box if I clogged the line it would not vacuum or pressure hold and slowly lick down. As I was contemplating returning, I had an idea. I filled the sink with water, squeezed as hard as I could, and quickly doused it before it lost pressure again. Then a group of bubbles came out of the pipe thread where the pressure gauge is screwed into the pump. Then I unscrewed the pressure gauge and found that there was no teflon tape or sealant in it. I…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Some imperfections

Tool Made in China. Firstly, the rubber caps that must be placed on the bleeder banjo bolts to bleed air from the brake lines are not suitable for the larger sizes. A hand tool cannot seal against a suction/vacuum that a hand tool is capable of. Screw pressure modes to air or vacuum are difficult to select and/or seal depending on which mode is selected. So-called flexible, soft vinyl hoses. solid materials. You can't lie flat. Like a feather. The cup is springy. The hose must be made of soft…

Like rather than dislike.

Not a bad device. An excellent and versatile tool to complete the collection if used carefully. Can be used to reverse fluid through a system (e.g. motorcycle front brake), check two-stroke crankcases, boat front drives, etc. Not the best vacuum pump, but sufficient to pump liquid. The first block produced only -15 in pounds, the second replacement was better producing -19 in pounds at 5500 feet. Requires much more compression action to set vacuum than other types of intake pumps. The pressure…
