The important point here is to learn how best to measure the inner diameter consistently and accurately. You should feel when the peaks are exactly in the middle and then freeze the measurement by turning the knob so you can take the reading with a caliper or microphone. I'm still learning - every time I get a different reading; only deviates by a few tenths, but is not constant enough for critical measurements. Expect some practice with them if you need very accurate measurements.
