Replacement is best done in spares

Did this after replacing the water pump. So I knew I had everything there was and it must be a while. This is a heavy piece and should get the job done for me with no problems. It fits perfectly and comes with all the gaskets you could need. A permanent sealing ring is attached to it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Concise instructions

Pretty simple cylinder block coolant inlet bolt replacement with modern replacement 180 degrees. Thermostat for my 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500, 5.3L V-8 LS at 100,000 miles. The internal flow path seems smoother than the old nozzle and 180 degree thermostat that came with it and replaced separately.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • So-so

Poorly packaged and damaged

Received in an envelope with a crushed empty Delco box inside and the thermostat and housing floating inside. The rubber seal on the thermostat was deformed from being exposed. Luckily I had the tools to fix it and I expect it will hold up. Gaskets are not included and are not required. The gasket around the thermostat helps. I would like to rate the packaging separately from the product

  • Certified
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Perfect fit, comes with thermostat and gasket.

Fits perfectly, comes with thermostat and gasket and almost ready to use. The only problem was the old screws on the thermostat housing. I tightened them to the spec in the service manual and one of them sheared off. I had to drill out the rest with a left hand drill and replace with screws from Home Depot. I tightened it until it was nice and secure instead of using a torque wrench.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • High price

Works great

The thermostat has a slightly different design than the original. I looked at it and thought for a while if it was worth using. The original thermostat had holes in the plate covering the hole. After reporting that the new design had ribs to keep the plate from covering the hole, I knew we could move on. It fits perfectly. The black ring on the thermostat is also the gasket of this assembly. As this assembly is a replacement for previous models, it comes with new screws.

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Not sure

The good news is good for thermostats

The good news is that the device looks the same as the current one. The even better news is that I found the problem and didn't need to install it. I have a fairly new thermostat so I was sure this part wouldn't be needed, but I took it just in case I needed it. I checked at an auto parts store and no gasket is needed here other than a gasket around the base of the thermostat. Pretty cool attitude. Mine also had no latches and the box looked like it had been opened before.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No

Great for new water pump

I bought a new water pump for my truck (2002 GMC Sierra 1500 4.8L) and the existing thermostat didn't match the new pump. This thermostat is perfect for a new water pump. It appears to be very well built and of excellent quality. Here are the part numbers I used: Water Pump: Manufacturer Part #: ACDelco 251-743 Revain ASIN: B00496Y4IK Thermostat: Manufacturer Part #: ACDelco 15-11057 Revain ASIN: B002VVC4TGI only about 150 miles on new system but still functional large. I'll update if I notice…

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Long delivery time

I am an AC Delco employee so you will see that I only use AC Delco products on GM vehicles. I also use Motorcraft for Ford products. It's always worth the extra money and saves you the headache of cheap aftermarket crap that you have to replace 10 times to get a good one. Works as it should every time the first time. I'm also not afraid to use Delco's AC products on other makes and models, especially hard parts (non-electric).

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Modern

New bolts not included

Simple assembly that bolts directly to the water pump - quick and easy. The only problem I had was that one of the original thermostat housing bolts broke when I tightened it with a torque wrench. It took about 90 minutes to visit 3 parts shops to find a place that stocked the right size, thread pitch and length. Considering GM's cost of these bolts is probably only a penny or two, I'd appreciate new ones being included in the package. Just to note that this appears to be a 187* thermostat. I…
