ACDelco D1425B Professional Trunk Lock Review

Perfect fit for my Caddy 69 trunk. It took about 20 minutes to swap out the part (since I had never done it before) and I saved at least $150 by doing it myself.

Works great. Very hard work. The clip that comes with the kit may not necessarily fit your car. So be careful, hold the clamp until you are sure they are the same length. I threw mine away and had to pull out the one that came with it as far as I could and then put screws in it to keep it from going back. Another thing is that it's great.

Item arrived on time and fits perfectly. However, this was not the original Delco lock. As a retired automotive technician with 47 years of experience, I have installed several of these, both Delco and aftermarket. It was an aftermarket item which is fine as both Delco and aftermarket items are very good quality. So if you need a lock cylinder for your car, I definitely recommend them.

This lock was purchased for a 1969 Camaro, but after installing the block I found that the key was horizontal instead of vertical. Thus, the locking mechanism prevents the shaft from snagging on the vertical hole in the lock. This lock is most likely intended for an early 1967 Camaro. The lock came in original AC Delco packaging marked D1425B. Remove your lock and compare your lock to the pictures in the description before purchasing. If the pictures don't match, don't buy.

During the restoration of my 74th Nova hatchback I had to replace the hatchback lock cylinder. The old one got stuck and I couldn't get the key out. Keep in mind that the hatchback has a different stem that runs from the back of the lock barrel to the latch assembly, so you'll need to keep that if installing on a hatchback. The clip is also different, so you need to save and reuse the clip as well. Both the clip and shaft were in excellent condition so nothing to worry about and the lock barrel
