Great buy - GPS tracker

My husband bought this and was very happy with the easy setup and registration. We haven't had to use it yet, but it definitely gives me peace of mind that we have it with us.

Replaced my old ResqLink

Unfortunately I lost my first ResqLink so it replaced it. I registered it with NOAA and everything is set up again. Great when you are at sea. I kayak a lot and that calms me down.

If you really need help

This is my second PLB from ACR. I still have my first one in my sail bag, but this is for winter travel. I'm driving through Washington, Oregon and part of Idaho. Once you are out of town, cell phones become less reliable. I've witnessed some really horrific incidents in quite remote areas. This PLB is my backup just in case.

There is absolutely no other way to call for help in a life or death situation.

The odds of you ever having to use a distress signal are astronomically small. Cellular 911 is often available when regular cellular service is unavailable. But when you're off the beaten track and need life and death insurance and there's absolutely no other way to call for help (air/sea rescue), this distress signal is lightweight and reliable. This requires registration with the US government.

A Small Price for Peace or Sanity

Great for peace of mind. Anywhere in the world, anytime, you will be found if you can see the sky. So please don't activate it indoors, it needs to see the sky to see the satellites. As for the guy who strapped it to his jet ski, it's made for ground testing. And while it floats, it's only designed for surface water pressure. They have beacons for maritime use. You might as well complain about your jet ski breaking on dry land. Choose the right tool for the right job.

Not very bulky but heavier than the average phone

I can't give a single star for battery life because I just got it. I assume that the battery will last as described. It was very easy to check in online. The instruction was very easy how to use it. As far as I know it will work I did a test and passed. It's similar in size to a smaller version of old chunky cell phones and not super heavy, but heavier than the average cell phone. I would say worth the money for peace of mind. I think everyone who hits the water should have one of these…

I can't wait to use it!

I really hope I'll never use it, but if I do, I suspect this block will come in handy. This replaces McMurdo's quick search which I had for 8 years and never used. The battery in the quick search still shows a full charge after all these years, but I figured it would be better to swap out and upgrade. Both devices are good, I just appreciate the ResQLink's longer signal life. The only downside is that it's almost impossible to attach the belt clip to the device (don't give up), and despite all…
