This prevents food spills.

First, my bird broke off parts and ripped off the tip while in the cage. Parrots are very smart. It hasn't been 24 hours yet. If your parrot is chewing, look for the best. My parrot is medium sized and too big for this feeder. Second, he was upset because he couldn't choose the pieces he wanted to eat at that point. Third, you don't get any assembly instructions. I had to email the seller when emailing me directions. Assembly takes half an hour or more.
