Dried out and unusable

I regularly work with white clay at a low temperature when making molds and it needs to be very soft and workable. When I opened the clay it was dry and difficult to handle. I had a hard time cutting it through with the wire and even tried cutting deeper into the block but it turned out to be too hard even a few inches deeper. It was a total loss and I will not order again.

Pros
  • Clay

Excellent clay so far for ceramics and pottery

Excellent for turning on a wheel Just like other people have said it's not sticky it's a nice smooth clay that's easy to manipulate. In my experience, until I cracked with this clay body, it dries a little slower than other low-temp clays that I've used in a temperature/humidity controlled environment. I'm looking forward to seeing it ignite. I weighed it too and it came out 26 pounds so thanks for the extra pounds guys 1 more cup for me (the cup on the right isn't quite dry)

Pros
  • Ceramics and pottery
Cons
  • No power

Disappointing - ACTIVA Blackjack

I'm not very experienced but I know this case doesn't meet the characteristics described. It has poor plasticity, high rebound (like bread dough), and is a bit brittle. I haven't fired it yet because I couldn't mold the part. Although my sculpting and sculpting skills are beginner, I know how to appreciate the properties of a clay body and the only reason I keep it is because I got it for half the price. I'll try mixing it with some native pearl clay I have and see if it improves.

Excellent clay but dries the skin

I am very happy with this clay, I sculpted, sculpted and sculpted by hand. It's a lovely white when fired to an 04 taper. I mostly use stoneware and porcelain but this will definitely save me money when running my kiln! I must say that it dries quickly, it also dries out the skin and even burns it. When I first started working with this I was tempted to put on gloves because of the odd sting where the clay was on the tips of my hands. I've never experienced that with any other sound. Hands are…

Excellent throwing and modeling clay

Excellent plasticity, creamy and non-sticky, one of my favorite throwing clays. It's dense and smooth, no grog, but holds its shape with a wheel. I like it to dry out a bit, so I use a small low-speed fan when pouring, which just tweaks it a bit when I'm finalizing smooth shape. The bisque is white and works well with 04. The manufacturer says this clay can be fired up to 5, but I haven't shot at medium range yet so can't confirm. I have used different or commercially available glazes and…
