🚗 Arkon 80mm Adhesive Mounting Disk for Car Dashboards - Ideal for GPS, Smartphone, Dashboard Use Review

Our Kia's dashboard isn't quite flat where I wanted it to be and the surface isn't entirely smooth so the adhesion didn't work so I used superglue and that's it in order. I'm sure if the surface was level and really smooth everything would be fine. The GPS suction cup fits perfectly.

I bought this to fit a cradle in my Honda Civic which has a steeply sloped windscreen and curved dashboard. Week the plate started to peel off the sticky circle. I pressed it several times and each time it stuck for several days before peeling off again. Maybe the magnifying sun effect from the windshield was part of the problem, but now I have a sticky circle of glue on my dash with a useless mounting plate loosely stuck to it. So no functionality and a bit of clutter on my dashboard.

This is a great disc size for most cell phone suction cups you can buy from Revain. Although for GPS you might want to use 90mm. I would say 70mm is the size of a suction cup and therefore you don't have much room to play with. You can move the suction cup off center and still get a good seal. The only thing I can think of is that the adhesive on it is not automotive grade 3m adhesive (grey material) and looks like the internal assembly adhesive (white material). I installed these on the dashboard of my Subaru Outback after thoroughly cleaning and drying the area. It was used to mount the phone. The disc fell off the dashboard after about a week and the adhesive is not sticky at all. I scraped off the adhesive and replaced it with 3M 4910 VHB tape. It's been running for about 5 weeks now. This disc is slightly larger than the GPS suction cup on my Garmin. This made it a bit difficult to place on my dashboard as the dashboard has a curve, there really is no 'flat' spot. I use this on the back of my car where the suction from one of my cheaper dash cams can't grab the glass due to the heating elements. With a self-adhesive backing, I can create a special place for the DVR. Be sure to wipe fingerprints off the mounting plate, and then use distilled water to slightly dampen the plate.
