Great shell

Don't waste your money and time buying other more expensive shells just because they have a brand name on them. They look and function the same as the Technics shell. The only difference is that they are not branded.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

This is good for a temporary installation.

Not even close to Original Technics quality but it will see me through until I buy the real deal. This headgear is made of plastic. Real aluminum and much more durable. I bought it because it came with a Technics overhang sensor.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Easily repairable

No worse than well-known brands!

Fantastic case for the money. I bought an Ortofon Omega cartridge with a stylus and wanted to install a separate sleeve on it. It's cheaper, but in every way the same as the shells of well-known brands. Buy for the product, not the name. It meets all of these needs out of the shell and saves you money.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Weight

Works great!: Turntable cartridge

Other than the logo, I can't tell this head apart from the AT module that came with my turntable. The design is quite versatile so installing the cartridge and mounting it to the tonearm wasn't difficult. It's much easier to have an extra head with a cartridge pre-installed for easy replacement. I highly recommend buying some of these if you enjoy changing cartridges, even if it happens from time to time.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Zero

Seems to work well on DJ gear

I found an old Shure M44-7 and wanted to install it and listen again. This bowl is pretty good. The pins aren't as good as the Parts Express case, they're not gold plated or reinforced so be careful when sliding over the pins. Yes, the shell is plastic, and when the screws are tightened, it starts to bite into it when leveling with a protractor. I didn't have small washers that would fit, that's why. I think for one and the finished shell it works fine and the sound is ok.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I'll add later

Excellent quality and price

Every time I get a new cartridge I buy one of these cartridges which allows me to easily switch between them on my arm. They look and feel the same as the Technics shells, come pre-wired with the base and are of excellent quality. They fit my Technics SL-1200MK5 and Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB turntables and fit any tonearm with a standard SME socket. The black color looks good too, personally I like the look better than the silver shells.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Hard to say

My Go To Headshell in DJ Equipment

I make a living restoring and repairing old turntables and most of them require a head. I came across them based on the price and quality and was not disappointed. I bought about a dozen of these heads, and no matter what cartridge I put on it (Ortofon Red, Denon DL-103, Audio Technica, etc.), everything worked perfectly. The connectors connect easily to the cartridge, the screw holes are large enough for larger screws, and it is very easy to align the cartridge. I know there are more expensive

Pros
  • Easy-to-Read Control Panel
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Good quality case but no screws included

I bought two of these to install extra cartridges for quick replacement during testing. They are exactly what you would expect. Nice aluminum frame, solid DIN connector and well protected cables at the connection to the head. The only thing that confuses me is that they didn't include screws, but most new cartridges come with screws anyway so that wouldn't be a problem. Make sure you have an alignment protractor (you can print one out for free) and a proper strip down gauge if you want to swap…

Superb shell, goes well with Numark Groove Tool

This shell is almost identical in appearance, weight and design to Technics OEM shells. It goes very well with the Numark Groove Tool Cart and Stylus, both of which are highly rated here at Revain. I'm attaching a photo to this review mounted on an MCS 6601 turntable, something like a Technics SL-1900 or SL-2000, great tables. No frills, quality headshell for the money. Be sure to download and print out an installation protractor to align the cartridge in the shell so there is no noise. You…

Good bowl for the price but looks a bit cheap

This is not a terrible bowl. Worked for me for about a year. But I noticed some interesting problems. I'm not sure if this is related to another part of my setup and to be honest I have a pretty cheap setup: two used Numark 1650 Direct Drive TTs and a TERRIBLE Monoprice mixer. On a few Technics bowls I noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in signal to noise ratio. Even changing the wires on the ADJ shells didn't improve the noise as much as changing the shells. The quality of the material that…
