Solid metallic with quality finish. Comes with two different rungs - easy to switch between them. Applying the oil is easy with a long handle. The metal dispenser is hard to find in stores as most of them are plastic.

After I put the oil in I couldn't pump it out so I had to disassemble it to find the problem. Three different sizes of metric wrenches and lots of oilcloths later. It turned out to be a stuck ball bearing in the smaller of the two valves. By pushing it up and down and adding oil there, this valve worked. This is a small oiler. only 7 ounces. If you're used to 12oz and 16oz oil cans, this will feel oddly small in your hands at first. A bit like those miniature teacups you used to set for your daughter's tea party when she was 4 years old. But after using it for a while and getting used to it, I actually prefer this small size.
