I used this to make a reptile aquarium atomizer out of an old sundae. He worked 14 hours a day for a whole year, only failed due to corrosion in 2 places, which violated the tightness of the unit. I soaked it in vinegar to dissolve the solids of tap water for a year and let it run for an hour or two more. If this block was plastic it would have lasted a lot longer! I will buy a plastic version and see how long it lasts. DO NOT run them out of the water as they can destroy the disc in seconds.

We have learned a few things about this product since purchasing it. First, it only works within 1-3 inches of the water surface. This unit is slightly larger than the Alpine fountain sprayers I've used in the past and feels just as durable. It seems to produce the same amount of fog, maybe a little less than Alpine's more expensive fog machines, but for a third of the price I'm not complaining. Be careful where you use it as it will splatter a bit. If you put it in a container that is too small, it will splash water everywhere. I just bought them this week so I can't comment on their durability or longevity at the moment
