Qualitative filter papers are often used in routine separation work that still requires high purity and consistent performance. Qualitative grades consist of greater than 95 percent super refined a-cellulose and linter fibers. Standard qualitative filter papers are suitable for quadrant folded or gravity flow applications. This is an extremely fast filtering grade and has a larger particle retention. Ahlstrom 617, a thicker filter paper with higher loading capacity, is used for rapid filtration of coarse particles and gelatinous precipitates such as in oils and resin solutions.

Unreliable Filter, Avoid Buying

Based on my experience this filter is not WORTH the investment. While it may work well for a short amount of time, it quickly becomes clogged and does not effectively filter out particles. The only positive aspect is its initial effectiveness. The downside is that it quickly becomes useless, causing more frustration than anything else... Save yourself the hassle and look for a better alternative..

Consistent quality filter paper for brewed tea

These filter discs are great for filtering my tea. Sixteen bags per liter of water (to make 1 gallon) goes through without clogging, but I put pressure on the liquid to force it through. I found it necessary to make a metal ring that sits on top of the filter disc to hold it during filling and filtering, otherwise the disc would float and ruin the process. The liquid alone does not hold the paper. I use a 120mm ID filter funnel so the 110mm discs need to be eye centered and weighted. A 1 liter…
