I ordered these tugs last month and installed them in the garage. I connected both to the timer on the wall (so I don't forget and accidentally leave them on too long). I found it a bit odd that they came with a tubular look for ceiling mounts - I'm not sure how many people have 4" joists! I just attached mine to my ceiling joists using 2 of the 4 holes in the round flange with 5/16" x 3.5" screws and they seem solid. Fan works great. I mounted it on the ceiling in my garage and then hardwired it to a light switch on the wall. It lets in a lot of air and doesn't make a lot of noise. You know it works, but you can still hear your thoughts. I have a problem with King-Aire Customer Service. Since I hardwired the fan to a wall switch, I'd also like to be able to control the speed with the wall switch. I don't want to use the tension chain on the fan to change the fan speed.
