They work quite well in some modes.

They work quite well in Access Point, AP Client and WDS with AP (Bridge) modes. However, the installation can be very confusing. I would refrain from using repeater mode and some Linux distros and wifi card combos have problems connecting to the AP431W with Super G enabled. Try a different wireless card if this occurs. Also make sure you are running the latest firmware I think AP431W.v100p02.rc314.t579-58. Most left the factory with the rc120 version.

Doesn't work on Vista or later Windows platforms

unless you're a real techie and maybe can't optimize it almost reinvent. I used to connect it to a Windows 2008 server, which kept dropping the server's ethernet connection and becoming unusable. Something about not knowing everything about networks made me buy this thing, but it's really horrible, and now with Vista and up it's useless. Even if new in box buy for parts or for the antenna and short ethernet cable that came with it. Terrible, terrible product. I'm hoping to get rid of a few of…

Terrible, do not buy! Repeater circuit failed

This device does not work in repeater mode. They never did and went into a constant reboot. A firmware fix was released, but it didn't work and the device was discontinued. It works in other modes, but not very well.
