I've been looking for a solid meat tenderizer since my last one broke. This one is heavy enough to handle meat but light enough to use comfortably. The design is strong and designed for heavy loads. It's also very easy to clean, unlike other fabric softeners I've had in the past.

Ideal for Kiev chicken, stuffed pork or any recipe that calls for finely chopping poultry or pork. Start on the ribbed side and thin out on the smooth side. It was fun using it. Excellent balance and enough weight to support the process. Shiny stainless steel is easy to clean and looks great!

The meat tenderizer is made of an alloy that oxidizes in the dishwasher. The oxide cannot be washed off the textured side of the hammer, but will remain on the meat during use. If you only hand wash the fabric softener and can skip the heat sterilization (dishwasher or heat) the oxide build up will happen slowly. If you value meat safety, skip this model and look for a well-built stainless steel meat tenderizer.

Unfortunately the description led me to believe that this product is dishwasher safe. No, that is not so. I used it once and put it in the dishwasher. The entire coating immediately came off exposing the discolored inside of the metal pot, making it completely unsafe to use on meat due to the risk of heavy metal contamination. I wasn't expecting a solid machined stainless steel hammer, but I also expected it to last more than one use. Wouldn't recommend it.
