Depending on the intended use, they may seem too light (no question, that's why they are called "universal"). I use it to clean pool tile and grout and for that I prefer a denser pumice stone (it's pretty light for any heavy use).

It was a similar size and is a pumice stone, as far as I know every pumice stone is pretty much the same as it is a type of stone. I was surprised how easily and quickly the stones break with use. I have a 20,000 gallon pool and it would take all three stones to remove large chunks of minerals from the tile. If I try to get everything by cleaning up more, I won't get very far at all. Would have liked a denser stone that lasted a bit longer. A rock shouldn't be as light as a dry sponge, right?

I have tried several different pumice stones to remove scale (calcium?) from my pool walls and comments mentioning that they are too soft may not have been tried by others. soft stone and that's part of how it works. Removes limescale without damaging the shotcrete/gypsum surface as pumice is MUCH softer. Try something stronger and you'll take the cast off. This is not the goal. What makes these bars very valuable is their size. I paid almost twice as much for a much smaller pool shop bar. They
