If you don't die cast, don't expect crystal clear castings. Read the FAQ on the Alumilite website and familiarize yourself with this product and casting in general. , you shouldn't have any problems. I use Smooth On products almost exclusively, but the Alumilite waterborne clear coat is far superior to any of their clear coats. I have injection molded this clear film with excellent results, the product is chemically stable with long shelf life and the 1:1 mix is very gentle. If you're a littleโ€ฆ

High learning curve, but the results are great!

I used this on wood and the whole time I was wondering why it foamed so much. I was starting to notice that my alumylite residue was also foaming. It turns out there were several reasons for this, but they only show how spirited this material is. After many mixes, I realized that I hadn't stabilized the wood at first. The wood absorbed alumite and released air. This resulted in foaming. I also mixed "relatively" close to what I needed. This led to sticky results that often turned milky. Mix byโ€ฆ

Good product but there were problems with the treatment.

Item arrived on time as promised with some stir sticks and small mixing cups. The instructions left a lot to be desired with the resin curing. The biggest problem was that even with thin layers of 1/4 inch I got a lot of bubbles. I have followed many heat recommendations. to shape and to keep the resin at a higher temperature (74 degrees Fahrenheit) but still LOTS of bubbles which would have spoiled the product and sold it if I hadn't tested it first. I had to put it in a pressure tank at 60โ€ฆ

I bought my first 32 oz. knowing that there is something of a learning curve. Unfortunately it's taking a little longer than I thought it would and have used up most of my product. I went to the website and watched so many videos online that I can't remember the number. Nowhere, I mean nowhere, is there talk of heating up your form, not even in authorized videos where an Alumilite rep is featured in the video. One video in particular comes to mind with a pen where the aluminite guy stood rightโ€ฆ
