Convenient multiport for computer and accessories

This Revain Basics 9-in-1 multiport works well VGA, USB 3.0 A x2, Ethernet, TF card slot, SD card slot and type - C socket x2. Works as described, no problems. Very handy - provides additional connectivity to my son's MacBook Pro.

A NOTICE. This product works (only) with a PC that supports Display Port Alternate Mode (Alt Mode).

This product works (only) with host Computers, Display Port Alternate Mode. That said, it's not "really" a USB 3/USB-C based dock, as your USB port must already be capable of sending Displayport video data to this adapter. So if you only have a basic USB 3.1 / USB C port "USB data only" you will not be able to view this product's video outputs. I didn't like that this important use case/compatibility requirement information was not included in the product description at all. I ended up having…

Convenient docking station

My daughter uses this adapter with her college laptop. This allows her to use the Ethernet connection in her dorm room instead of WiFi. The video-out ports also come in handy if she wants to connect it to a monitor larger than her laptop's 13-inch screen. Major bases are covered, including HDMI. Very Disappointed with Computers and Accessories

It's not clear what's wrong, but the USB ports are intermittent and the device gets very hot - tried it already 5 times and always got too hot to use. Must return as we cannot safely use it.

Very disappointed

Not sure what's going on but the USB ports are intermittent and the unit gets too hot to service - I've tried this about 5 times now and it always gets too hot to use. Must return as we cannot safely use it.
