The mop's fibers are too short to pick up and hold dust when you move it and the hinges on the handle can't move freely, they're sticky. The key to a good dust mop is that it needs to stay in contact with the floor when you move it or you'll leave dust behind. Because the fibers are short and the hinges aren't smooth, you really have to tighten it to keep it in contact with the ground. In my opinion, dust mops are only justifiable if they are lighter than a broom. It is not.

I bought this model twice to replace my Mr Clean hard floor mop because I had some pads left for it and the handle and button broke after many years use. I was glad to get the first one because the Mr Clean pads fit on it just like my old dust mop. The button on this model is very thin. Every hard floor wiper I've bought has had a button break in 2 months or less. I hesitate to buy another one because I can't afford to waste my money.
