AFW sockets and ferrules perform well in the rough fishing conditions off the North Carolina coast. When properly crimped they hold tight and do not weaken the line, wire or mono leader.

If you need good round barrels for crimping, these will fit the bill. I've used the AFW version on some of the hard rigs I make for wahoos and other toothy fish. They work great with both mono and cable. Just make sure you get the right size and squeeze the clamp so it presses the line material against itself. Good strong connection.

In this project, a stainless steel basket was installed over a hummingbird nest that has already been used several times. The last family was attacked by crows. I paired these .096 (600lb) American Fishing Wire ferrules with several AFW 600lb carabiners and AFW 600lb line to make a bunch of monster leads that are perfect for alligator fishing. a 300lb bell and lifted it all off the ground with my Penn Carnage CARJGII80200S60 rod fitted with real Dyneema Penn SSV10500 braid and 400lb test braid. The crimps worked great.
