Better than the standard 3-socket version

If you have a newer TV, this connection will significantly reduce screen blur. Worth an update. If you have an old TV that looks good, you probably won't notice a difference.

Pros
  • One-year trial
Cons
  • Available in black only

Bad value, cheap cash.

Absolute rubbish. How is it possible that it could look worse than composite video? Looks absolutely awful. It's so dark too. If you're looking for something better than composite, keep looking.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • It's hard to remember, but it was

Helps connect original Wii to new TVs.

When you buy a used Wii, chances are it comes with three connectors. The HETV-EDTV HD AV Component Cable allows you to play Wii games on the new 5-pin TVs.

Pros
  • Nicely
Cons
  • None

Looks terrible, works great.

You can see immediately that this is cheap Chinese junk. Didn't even bother to pull the fairing off. However. That works great. The plug is nice and tight. Doesn't move and instantly resolves to 480p, which is required for homebrew. I am happy.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Too stupid

Video quality could be better

This component cable does the job, but the video quality could definitely be better. The original AV cable that came with my WII gives the best picture. I let it slip because my 2 year old can't tell the difference.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Neutral

Worked for about 20 minutes

Installed on my Wii and ran a few games. It was great, I didn't know the Wii could deliver such great quality. But the red part of the wire ran out after I finished the level with the red coin in Mario's sunlight. Hooked up an old cable that worked, no TV, no console, unfortunately it was a cheap $10 cable.

Pros
  • Was fun
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Mine was defective: Nintendo Systems

I know one in a thousand is defective, but mine was. I only paid $11.99 with free shipping but when I plugged it in the picture was blue-purple. I changed the Wii setup and no luck. I later bought another one for a much larger amount, thinking it might be my TV or Wii, so I never sent it back. Yes, this item I purchased was untested and defective. My new component cable (5 pin) worked fine. It only reads 480 or maybe 720, but it's a nice upgrade over composite (3-pn) cables.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Functionality
