Aquarium water treatment takes time

Works but not as fast as advertised. I opted for a no fish cycle so as not to harm any of my fish. It didn't help my tank start as quickly as advertised, but it did start my tank. My tank cycle lasted about three weeks to get the cycle down to a 24 hour period.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Requires outlet

I have the concentrated version.

I received the concentrated version. 4 drops per gallon put it at 4 ppm. However, my bike bucket used it up in 24 hours. Easy to use, but you can practically make it for life by buying ammonium chloride and making it yourself. It costs about $8 on Amazon. Overall a good product, just overpriced for what it is.

Doesn't come with drip cap, 1 star less chance

I always have Dr. Tim's uses ammonia to bleed all my tanks and finding this big bottle sounded like a dream come true. It wasn't until I opened the packaging that I discovered there was no dropper cap on the cap, just a screw on the cap, so I wanted to use my other smaller dropper bottle only to find out the nipple wasn't removable. If you don't have a bottle that can measure 4 drops per gallon, I don't recommend this large bottle.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Drives me crazy

Does what it says on the tin

I used this to loop 5 of our 7 tanks. I currently ride a 75 gallon bike and it works. The label directions are accurate (4 drops per gallon or 1 ml per 20 gallons to bring the reservoir to 2 ppm). I double the dose and get exactly 4ppm on my test. Always treat the water added to the tank to remove any ammonia that comes out of the faucet, as this can mess up your calculations. I think that happens to people who have trouble concentrating.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Factor Set

Ideal for large pools!

I have Dr. Tim's for Cycle 2 tanks (40 and 125 gallons) - this was my choice as I've had a lot of trouble finding ammonia that doesn't have a detergent in it. When I first started riding my 125 I had about a bottle and a half left after riding my 40 gallons. Let me tell you - adding 2 drops per gallon to a tank this size takes forever! This container gave me a measurement of 20 gallons (one cap equals 120 drops) which was MUCH faster and easier to apply. I don't necessarily recommend it for…

Exactly what it says!

This is exactly what I wanted - aquarium grade ammonia (ie fragrance and surfactant free) for a fish free circuit. I was concerned about some of the negative reviews so I started with 28 drops for my 29 gallon tank just to be on the safe side (because obviously after gravel and decor you lose about 1 gallon of water space) which is 1/4 the amount was recommended doses. I checked after 10 minutes and got a reading of 0.5ppm using the API Master Kit (it was originally 0ppm). So I added 28 more…
