Good affordable EEPROM programmer

I bought this EEPROM programmer for various microcontroller and microprocessor projects. It works as described and can program a surprising number of different EEPROM devices. I've used it to program 8K parallel and serial EEPROMs, as well as in-circuit EEPROM programming on an ATmega328P microcontroller. I'm not using the included Windows software utility, I'm using the open source "minipro" utility. This works well and offers a much more user-friendly command line interface and runs on Mac OS

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Modern

Works well with USB sticks

Unlike other vendors' products, this one works. You have to download new software from the manufacturer's website, but this product works without any problems.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • For old ones

Works with Windows 10 after some configuration

I thought it was defective and replaced it. Found that the "pin code recognition" works intermittently and the "Verify ID" settings do not allow the writer to read, write or verify the chips. I found that after disabling these settings, everything worked perfectly with AMD 27C512 chips. Much luck!

Pros
  • Nice package
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

This is not compatible with older game ROMs

This device does not support older game ROMs. I am restoring Mrs. Pac and after he checked 3 boards, Ms. Pac and one Pac board, none of the modules are listed as read/write for this device. After browsing their website I found that I couldn't use them to program my arcade ROMs.

Pros
  • Good build
Cons
  • Not sure

I bought this thing to program just ONE EPROM

I wanted to play old games with the king of PC sound devices [late 80's/early 90's]. Unfortunately Wing Commander (and others) crashes with my ten year old firmware, ISA, Music Quest "PC MIDI Card". I didn't have an MT-32 when Music Quest made MIDI cards, so I never knew I had bugs. Thirty years later I discovered this fact. Ha. I found a forum where the problem was discussed (Hello VOGONS!). Someone was kind enough to send me a firmware update. I needed to install a fixed firmware EPROM on my…

Pros
  • . Enjoyable
Cons
  • Quality

. Just received this and started testing. This is mainly in Chinese with a bit of English, so I couldn't even know what to choose to download the software. Their support forum is useless as again there is little English and if they email them to the address they come back they can't get any support for the issues I found while testing. When testing an AMD 27C256 28 pin DIP selected from the device menu all 6 new eproms failed because their software was showing the wrong type. Then I chose other

Pros
  • . Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • . Not all fit.
