The paste is thin and spreads well. This can quickly become a problematic mess if you're not careful. I draw a small line and spread it in a thin layer on the surface of the processor. It adheres well to the processor's built-in heat spreader and aluminum heatsink, so I can assemble it once, remove the heatsink and see if I need to add anything more to ensure full contact. I've been using Arctic brand thermal compounds for a number of decades. They've always impressed me, but I think this one impressed me the most. I have an AMD FX-9370 and to say that this thing resembles an oven would be an understatement.
