On my BMW 530i I had to remove the fan and spend a bit more to get it. It's well done and I think the low scores may be from people who didn't know how to use it properly. Remember that the fan has a left-hand thread. The water pump wrench worked fine, wasn't perfectly aligned but still worked in my application and I'm glad I have something to use again in the future.

These are great if you have never removed a BMW fan before, the holding tool should not go around both screw heads and the screw pattern is not square on most fans. When you hook it on the end hole, it acts like a lever and holds up great. It fits the holder perfectly. I use the other part of the wrench to guide it, then just hook the wrench in and it starts spinning as soon as you unplug it!

I used this tool to remove the cooling fan from a 2006 BMW X5 3.0L in just a few minutes. It was a lot easier than I expected. Remember the fan is reverse threaded and it shouldn't be difficult.
