Useless for old work. Bad design.

This box cannot be used in the old 4" Opening job. "Internal" tabs/ears are FIXED - need to make additional cutouts to fit in the wall - and then rotate the box to allow the clips to clamp, the only obvious use is to attach it to the drywall BEFORE passing it over drywall BAD design

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

The concept is good. execution is bad.

Great concept, poor execution. Because the reservoirs are molded to the device, you must cut a hole to insert them and rotate the device to ensure it is snug and secure. Something like a keyhole. Otherwise, the hole will be too big and cannot be tightened tightly. Tabs that slide out like other old work drawers would be ideal.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Description is incorrect

The details section says it's metal but it's plastic and I'm sending it back. There's also a note printed on it saying it's only rated for 4 pounds! We wanted to use a 3 bulb light with glass domes so obviously it's too heavy for that. There is no printed reference to the image on the web, so we didn't even get the exact listing of the items.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Reliability

How to fix bad work.

I removed the original bathroom wall light and found that not only was the cord routed over the top of the stand instead of being pulled through, the electrician couldn't install the junction box. Unfortunately the plumbing was right in front of the pipes so I couldn't use the standard old work box. I thought that was great and it worked great! The prefix is installed and working stably. Now you need to fix the drywall in the place where the wire went along the rack.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Only available in white

The perfect solution for rack mounting a light

Fixed the horrible job of those who remodeled my bathroom years ago and cut out the entire back of two regular wall boxes so they could mount the sconces on top racks. This flat pancake box was the perfect solution. The only thing that bothers me is that one of the two perforation holes was already punched and one of the plastic dowels attached to the wall broke when tightening. Luckily the other one was holding the whole box firmly against the wall.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Updates

Did the job! Read the instructions.

Bought to hang a wall light where a cast iron vent pipe was in the wrong place. If you follow the directions carefully, you won't have a problem getting it through the 4 inch hole you cut in the drywall; Two flat edges allow it to slip into a 4" round hole, and with a little tilt and dexterity you can rotate things where you need them without having to cut additional "ears". One thing that could have been a bit better would be slightly longer screws for the outer ears. Once textured on the 5/8"

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged
