Interesting and fun

We bought a couple of these for our grandchildren. You like her very much. You can create interesting "stacks" of metal particles by moving the hourglass as the particles hit the magnetized side.

False advertising on timers

Description reads: A fun and creative reinterpretation of the traditional hourglass. A complete synchronization cycle takes 60 seconds. Recieved today. The timer ran for 20.47 seconds. False advertising that it takes 60 seconds. Upset!

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Useless features

Fun and Pointless!: Timer

My son saw this at the science center and was dying to see it. Because I'm cheap, I secretly checked Revain's price when no one was looking. Revain is much cheaper. It kept me entertained for minutes! Then that was the end of it, because it got blocked from time to time. But still cool. I blame his short attention span, not the product.

Pros
  • Feels Good

Cool desktop novelty for $12

As a minute timer, it doesn't show the exact minute and isn't even accurate every time I use it - my range is 70-100 seconds. That being said, I doubt anyone bought it to be an accurate chronometer. I would buy this again. If it was over $20 I'd be disappointed, but for $12 it's real glass, wood, magnetic metal shavings and a magnet. Kinda cool.

Pros
  • A dream come true

Nice gimmick but not for 60 seconds

Bought as a gift but once received you may have to spend more to keep it from looking cheap. Not 60 seconds as advertised. Mine was only about twenty seconds. Too bad but I still give them away as they are still cute and the return is too cumbersome. May change the information to match the actual item. Should have read the reviews before buying.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Minor flaws

Promotion on a wonderful ball

This thing is even cooler than it looks. The movement of the "sand" is smooth and even, and the amazing crystal structures it forms at the bottom of the hourglass are fascinating. This is just a blank natural wood base and looks amazing. A small note: After about a month, the magnet at the base came loose. A little super glue fixed the problem and I haven't had any problems since.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • There are downsides

Magnetic Hourglass for Kitchen Utensils and Gadgets

After reading another review it becomes clear that they are not made of the exact amount of metal shavings. The one I have has enough chips to last about 1 minute 14 seconds. Although I would actually wish less. With the amount of chips that are in the shank, the final shape is always the same. It's just an ordinary hill after all, because the amount/weight exceeds the magnet's ability to hold interesting formations. I put a magnet on it and this allows some of the shavings to hang like a…
