This was the first time I bought something like this. The first time I used it, I wet it, lathered it up, and it crumpled and curled up like a blob in the sandpaper. I don't know what I did wrong, no effort and stretching will bring it back to a usable shape. I tried using it in the form of curly drops, but they were so rough that they left red marks on my skin. I'm not very sensitive either, I often use fairly strong scrubs. I'll probably have to try another brand.

Exactly what I imagined but with a nice texture. Rough but not too harsh, cleanses the skin well. I use it everywhere, just be careful with sensitive areas ;) The washcloth is woven and looks quite delicate, but I had no problems with it. The material is nice and dense, giving you good coverage when you wash. Wrings out easily and dries quickly.

LOVE THIS Rag! When wet it shrinks to about 3/4 the size of a cotton fabric which is fine with me. I had it for about 8 months and couldn't part with it even for a 2 week vacation! I'm the only one in the house who needs a special snowflake scraper for leather. Ayate is quite gentle in the sense that you can clean the leather very thoroughly without rubbing it with sandpaper. Loofah is too aggressive for my skin. It's just the right balance of cleaning power and softness. With a scoop of Apricot Sensitive Skin Scrub + a hard scrub with an Ayate pad, my skin is amazingly soft. The surprise is that I've had acne for decades without a reason. It just goes away. I am shocked.

I love using Ayete washcloths in the shower. However, for some reason this last one I bought never compressed properly. After repeated use, it still stretches and doesn't hold the soap well. I don't get it because every time I've bought one of these, it shrinks and tightens after the first two uses, making it easier to manage and holding liquid soap better.
