I asked the seller if it would fit and they assured me that the case would even fit a 14 inch laptop, so yes it would fit an iPad about 12 inches long. The iPad just fits in this case and the latches on ONE side can be locked when the device is in the case. This is the best purchase I have ever made. It's comfortable that it fits so much and the back pocket is great for easy access to my phone or whatever when I'm cycling.
