I've had it a little over 30 days (about 40 days ago) and had an issue where one of the sections wasn't being read. I used crystaldiskinfo information from the disk test software and this new disk is already reporting current pending sector count errors. I used WD Lifeguard for about 36 hours and it reported unrecoverable bad sectors. I just received an RMA and found that WD has a lousy warranty, at least in my opinion. The drive has not been recognized in less than three months. It spins and sounds normal, but neither Windows sees it nor the WD software nor the Linux kernel via lsusb. So I conclude that the internal bridge adapter (which converts USB to SATA) has failed. You can't even disassemble the case and connect the drive to SATA because the jumper is built into the drive, which is very consumer-friendly. so i screwed it up Buyers beware, avoid this product.

CAUTION! I am ashamed that I bought another poor quality WD product. I have spent over $100 on this product and it has worked 4 times in a few months. Update... Searching the web I found an article that suggested that one option was to change the drive's security permissions. I went in and found out (after 2 tries) that this was indeed the problem. So I changed my rating from 1 star to 5. I used to use WD services quite a bit, so losing a drive so quickly was very disheartening.
