excellent product suitable for clutch locks

Great product perfect for my 2016 Ram 2500 hitch receiver, love the fact that you use the car key to turn it on and off, yes it does NOT come with a key, you take the ignition key or the door key "my ram has one Key fob" and insert it into the receiver's lock key lock and turn the key slowly. When you turn the key, the lock will program itself to match that key, once you complete the process, your key will work perfectly. Quality Hard wearing and in place, good weather resistance, good buy

  • New
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Decent solution for fewer keys

Bought for my wife's WK2 Grand Cherokee. It was pretty easy to "code", easier than I thought. Might be a little finicky to actually snap it onto the pin, I know it took me a few tries putting it on the jeep. I haven't taken it off in (4 months) but usually when I top up the gas in her jeep I wiggle the clutch lock a bit to make sure it's still secure. Because the clutch is recessed on the WK2, it shouldn't pop out all the way, but better safe than sorry.

Look Ma, no extra keys!

Had one on my Chevy, just got a new one for my Ram 2500. It only takes a second to install on your key and then it's ready to use. It's great not having an extra key on your fob or having to keep the key in your glove box to dig out when you need to use it. No problem when exposed to the elements, I've left it in the truck all winter (snow, road salt, freezing temperatures) and it's never jammed or had any problems. The ONLY problem is that there are no positive signs. what it is connected toโ€ฆ

Be careful. The castle fell while driving.

Warning! I bought one of these locks and used it as a receiver lock on a U-Haul trailer and Class III receiver that I own. I DOUBLECHECKED to make sure the lock was on the pin after attaching it to the pendant. Well, the roadblock on Interstate 5 in California has come down. I was following my wife who was towing a trailer and saw it fall off. So what's my way out!? I tugged at the lock to make sure it was there. I know I locked it up. THIS IS A BROKEN LOCK that could kill someone if Uhaul'sโ€ฆ

If you're towing, you need one of these receiver locks!

I have driven a trailer for many years and I always carry a key set with all the keys to the various locks on my trailers. A friend introduced me to these locks and I was excited about the idea of using my truck/car keys in my locks. These locks are quite strong, the rubber coating is thick and seals the shaft well. The lock is filled with white lithium grease to withstand the elements. The manufacturer makes OEM keys for many car and truck manufacturers and they clearly know their stuff. Iโ€ฆ

Simple one key design.

Tired of looking for keys to unlock the trailer pin. I read that some people had trouble attaching the pin and it fell out. I've found that if you don't force the lock into place, it won't engage and may fall apart. Slide the two parts together and you will hear a click. Then it is locked. There is a strong rubber seal around the lock and this is part of what gives the illusion that the pen is locked when it isn't. The rubber gasket is tight (good for sealing), but you still have to push theโ€ฆ

Be careful of bumps

I used one of these with two caravans. Overall, I like the design and ease of use, with one very important exception. The locking head, where it attaches to the stock, can come loose on a bump or on a dirt road with a washboard. Ball bearing assemblies that snap into a groove on the pin shaft can pop out with enough pressure. When this first happened a few years ago I didn't understand what happened and thought it was user error and I hadn't backed it up properly. It seemed unlikely becauseโ€ฆ
