Description of Bosch 85900MC Carbide Double Flute Downcut
Micrograin solid carbide – ensures consistently smooth finish cuts, with superior wear resistance. Template cutting when downward pressure is advantageous for clean, accurate cuts. augering action clears chips from the cut. Downcut spiral design – used for downward chip flow and the best finish on the top side of the workpiece. Solid carbide build – provide the best rigidity and long life, for faster feed rates and chip removal, hard-to-route materials and superior bit life.
Using this product our team found that it produced rough edges and wasn't durable. The only positive is its initial sharpness. The carbide tip dulls quickly and results in poor quality cuts. Overall, we do not recommend this router bit....
Pros
Produces precise, clean cuts with reduced chip-out
Cons
Less effective on thicker materials due to the downcut design
Makes nice cuts but breaks after 3 cuts. Not sure if this is a broken product or something like that, but I'm a mid-level carpenter with a lot of experience with routers and haven't broken yet. I understand it's only 1/8" thick so there isn't much material in it. I was disappointed as the cuts I made were awesome.
