Description of Bosch HTCTCP Carbide Tipped Hole Pilot: Precision Drilling Made Easy
4-3/4 In. carbide-tipped pilot bit. For use with MultiConstruction hole saws. Applications include tile, brick and abrasive materials. For use with mandrels PCM38, PCM12, PCMSDSPL.
After I put it to the test, I was impressed with the power and accuracy of this hole cutter. The carbide tip made quick work of even the toughest materials, leaving a clean and smooth cut every time. The pilot bit ensures that the cutter stays on track and doesn't wander. One downside is that it can be a bit noisy, but the results are worth it. Overall, a great addition to any cutting tool collection.
Pros
Durable carbide tipped material ensures long-lasting use.
This is the only bit available that works with Bosch TCHS drill bits which require a 7" quick change Bosch pilot bit. It has a wall top and works. Works well with most materials but wood is slow to cut and I had to remove the drill bit from the mandrel and then remove the pilot cutter to get the plug out after cutting the hole which slows it down even more. Good concept but not the best execution.
I am very satisfied with the Bosch hole saw quick change system. I purchased a BOSCH PCMSDSPL SDS Plus Bi-Metal Hole Saw Shank to use with a Bosch 11224VSRC SDS rotary hammer to cut holes in the exterior plaster, CMU retaining wall and concrete foundation walls of my house. Inexplicably, Bosch decided to include a pilot hole saw intended for wood with an SDS mandrel, apparently intended primarily for cutting concrete. An adapter (or one of the similar kits) is needed to adapt most common…
