The connection started dropping and then stopped completely

Worked for several weeks. I used it to connect an external HD. I turned it off maybe ten times. It then started shutting down as I moved the external hard drive around my desk. Now it doesn't connect at all. I've never seen a USB cable stop working, especially if it's been used less than usual a month after purchase.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Poor instruction

I wasn't sure if this would work properly as there are so many different cable tolerances for various devices out there but seems ok - just secured my Thunderbolt 3 laptop in an enclosure with two USB 3.1 Gen1 hard drives. Everything looks good. Was a good price compared to other cables advertised with this spec, most were double the price.

Pros
  • Very Good Value
Cons
  • Piggy Bank Price

Turn your MacBook into a desktop

I connect this cable between my MBP and the dock and I can enjoy the 27 inch beauty of macOS on an external monitor. I love that it's just one cable to switch to a desktop setup and keep it simple. By the way, in the photo I'm using a Dell Dock (D3100) which was designed for Windows, but I already had it before buying the MBP, so I'm glad it works on Mac too. Monitor hp 27xw.

Will not work properly with MBP and external hard drive

This cable will not work. I was trying to use this cable to connect an MBP with a Thunderbolt 3 port to an external hard drive that uses a USB B 3.0 connection. Disk metadata was recognized, but file I/O operations are not performed on a 10Gbps USB connection. When I switched to using a standard USB 3.0 A/B cable with a passive to USB-C adapter, the USB connection and file operations work as expected. This means that the problem is not with the external hard drive enclosure and computer, butโ€ฆ
