Not Thunderbolt 2 but a decent USB 3.1 hub/chassis

When I first bought this I was upset and considered returning it. I thought this would be a great Thunderbolt 2 hub for my 2014 iMac. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and installing software from the manufacturer's website (at least on 10.13 High Sierra) results in the hard drive not being recognized by the computer. A lot of anxiety ensued as I reformatted and reinstalled the operating system on the hard drive, a Crucial SSD. I sat in my burlap and ashes thinking I'd only use it for what…

Great design, poor quality control and electronics?

I was looking for an external HD case with a built-in fan. There aren't many options and this one was great with great features. On arrival it did not disappoint, you can feel the quality in everything, first class accommodation. Even the HD trolley is heavy gauge steel and chrome plated! In addition, the screw holes on the trolley are slanted! Not very good, but not a critical factor - the locking mechanism, which requires 2 different keys to access the drive bay, is unnecessary and offers…

A very handy case for the drives you have.

I had some relatively new 4TB drives lying around that I pulled out of the Mac case that had yet to be used. I bought this unit (blank, no drive), installed one of these drives and it's back in business. But here's a bonus: Since the drive connects from USB-C to USB-C (on the back of my 2018 iMac 21"), it's a lot faster than a USB 2 drive at all. So I'm very happy. I just put a 4tb drive in the case, plug it in, boot it up and I'm back in business I wish I could string a few of these things…

MacBook owners will love this!

The biggest annoyance with the newer MacBook models is the limited number of ports. Two Thunderbolt 3 ports, one to be used for charging, while one to connect something else, e.g. B. an external drive, remains. Then nothing can be connected and users have to look for various hubs and docking stations. What AV Pro 2 offers is unique. This is the only 3.5"/2.5" SATA enclosure I'm aware of that can also power a MacBook via a USB-C connection (though only 30W). When the device is plugged into a…

Not as advertised for storage

I bought two of these from Revain to fit 2.5" SSDs for use with a 2018 MacBook Pro. transmission speed. However, what isn't mentioned and you won't know until you read the box it comes in is that it's an older generation of USB C Gen 1, which is limited to 5Gbps and not up to the current 10 Gb/s USB C and definitely not 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3. If he had mentioned the actual maximum transfer rate of 5 Gb/s or Gen 1 USB C I wouldn't have ordered it. For that reason I recommend Don't do this if…

Big, metallic, strong and still very good looking.

very strong, well built; It's big, so check the dimensions. Works as a concentrator. UPDATE: A needle is required to open the case. I spoke to customer service today and asked why and apparently they were originally supposed to come with a drive in themselves. So the good thing is that it's very safe and the bad is that it's very safe. You can't just open the door to eject the disc. Actually, this is not a minus, but just for your information. In addition, there is a fastening pin inside. I…
