Much better than Brunton.

Very accurate compass. There is no declination setting, so you have to account for it manually. Spend money to get tritium as the phosphor often needs to be charged with light. Other than that, a great investment.

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • I will add later

Great compass for most intermediate hikers

This is the same quality as the compass they gave me in the Navy. It's actually a lot better because unlike most people I didn't get Cammenga. I still have it and it's almost the same. The only difference I can tell between this one and the one they gave me is that the released one has no markings at all. The two are within 2° of each other, and within that accuracy with the third compass I checked.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Nothing here

A compass strap pouch doesn't have to be an afterthought.

I teach tourists how to use a map and compass. I use a baseplate compass but needed a good compass with lenses to demonstrate its use. The Compass 27 is very well made but the case is very cheap flimsy nylon. It broke right away. Snap showed up immediately. A tough compass deserves a tough case. Follow up: Excellent customer service. They send a new bag. Immediate response to an email I sent through their website.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Protection

Just like the compass I used in the army

My son and I go on a lot of scout hikes. We've had cheap clear plastic compasses that worked fine, but NOTHING beats this compass here! They are expensive BUT if you take care of them they will last a lifetime and be passed down to your children. Easy to use. and very durable. Made in the USA is a huge plus! It's easy to line up on your map, and the dial is beautiful and durable, there's no slippage in movement. I'm glad I finally got them!

Pros
  • Best in his niche
Cons
  • Big and bulky

One of the best compasses.

I won't repeat the features and functions, suffice it to say they are great. This compass was built to be durable and very useful. I have several and will likely buy more. This compass and a good topographical map of the area will always help you to reach your destination. Ideal for aligning construction projects with the cardinal points. The straight edge on the side gives an extremely accurate indication of what NSEW is right now.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Speed

THIS IS A COUNTERFEIT, NOT GENUINE LENS COMPASS

This is definitely not an "official US compass", it is poorly made and a cheap fake masquerading as genuine. The markings on the compass initially make it appear to be a fake. It also advertises the presence of tritium lighting. There really is no lighting. Tritium is not an isotope that is charged by the sun or light. The compass dial is plastic and cheap plastic. The dial is also plastic and cheap plastic. DON'T BUY THIS SHIT. DON'T BELIEVE IT BY READING MAPS. Get CMMG! It's expensive, but…

Pros
  • Impressive

  • boring packaging

Back to basics good for electronics and gadgets

I ordered two of these for our grandchildren who love the great outdoors. They are eight and nine years old and they love things like compasses and things for men. I had books brought to teach them how to use them and maps so they could learn where they were without a GPS with the help of their father. They should last a lifetime as they are very well built and lightweight. These are standard army compasses, so they'll hold just about anything, anywhere the boys can find for the "big…

  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Obsolete

Compass that always works

Cammenga Compasses are good things. I'm a cartographer and compass at heart, and that's best of all. I've used flat map compasses, engineering compasses, cheap stuff, expensive stuff (why are Suunto compasses so expensive?). Cammenga is my compass. (By the way, have you ever noticed that you store waypoints and landmarks in the Mark 1 skull filler when using a map and compass? If you use GPS or an online mapping system to get into unfamiliar territory, you're just as lost When did you start…

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
