Not to be overdone on dice games

My family bought a regular Catan game for Christmas after reading so many rave reviews and recommendations online. It was hard to learn, the graphics were bad, and my sister didn't like it at all. I found the concept interesting and wanted to try again, but couldn't find 2 more players after the first round. I chose a dice game because you can play with just 2 people and in a much shorter time. In fact, this is a Yahtzee with different dice. Not a big deal, but I'd just as well play Yahtzee…

Great game, cheap packaging

If you like the board game Settlers of Catan, you will probably like this fast-paced version of the game. It can only be played by two people and is ideal for on the go. However, this version of the game is somewhat lacking in packaging. We have previously purchased a version of this game which comes in a small figure storage box and we only purchased this version when we ran out of scorecards and just wanted to stock up, but if you are looking to purchase this as your first copy, you will need

Need more moves to complete the game

Overall, this game just isn't bad. My wife and I are Settlers fans and loved the travel version. The gameplay is mostly fun, except that the game is limited to only 15 rounds when the scoreboard shows that there is a lot of game left. So the game seems unfinished when in fact it's over. I love the idea of bringing the game to Catan Yahtzee style. However, the two sides of the cube are very similar: gold and ore. So it took us another second to figure out who it was. Maybe the bones need to be…

Decent adaptation of the game

I prefer the board game Catan, of which this is an adaptation. In this game, the rules are simplified, so there is much less freedom than in a real game. This can be frustrating for experienced players, but makes it easier for new players to get started. The game is also easy to transport. A real Catan game has a board of interlocking pieces, so it transforms every game; but the cube has only one fixed board setting. One feature of the game that I don't like is the single-use scorecards. In a…

Somehow better than the settlers.

This game is surprisingly interesting for a casual gamer like me. The instructions take a few minutes to learn, but are complex enough to be interesting. I've been looking for a good portable 2 player game and this is my favorite. There are two games here, one on each side of each blank. Island A is a bit simpler and has the advantage of having a set number of turns (15 each); However, Island B's scoring is a bit more similar to that of settlers, as it includes victory points for longest road…
