Description of Cerussite Crystals Specimen Sparkling Collectible

You will get one of the Cerussite Specimen in box similar to the one in the listing, the size and the color of the specimen may slightly vary as well due to the fact that all minerals are different. (see photo, the photos are taken under bright light)! Box Size: 28mm x 28mm x 21mm / 1 1/8 x 1 1/8 x 13/16 Inches; Average 1pc Weight: 19g / 0.67oz; This beautiful specimen is glued to the box for higher security! Weight was given for box and crystal together!. Cerussite is named after Latin "cerussa" meaning "white lead", an ancient term for artificial lead carbonate. Cerussite is usually transparent to translucent, colourless or white, sometimes has gray, brownish or greenish tint. The mineral occurs as compact granular masses, and sometimes in fibrous forms. Very bright crystals are often. Chemical Formula: PbCO3; Hardness: 3 - 3.5; Color: Colorless, white, cream, light gray, light yellow, and brown. Barite is a common mineral and makes very attractive specimens. It often is an accessory mineral to other minerals and can make a nice backdrop to brightly colored crystals. At times bladed or tabular crystals of Barite form a concentric pattern of increasingly larger crystals outward. This has the appearance of a flower and when colored red by iron stains, these formations are called "Desert Roses". Barite often replaces other minerals, and may even replace organic materials such as wood, shells, and fossils. It sometimes forms tufacious mounds from deposition of hot, barium-rich springs. It is isomorphous and very similar in form with the mineral Celestine, and may partially replace it. Chemical Formula: BaSO4; Color: Colorless, white, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, brown, blue, green, gray, and black. Hardness: 3 - 3.5; Specific Gravity: 4.3 - 4.6. (The above information is provided solely for informational purpose. Kindly note that all stones are offered for decorative purposes only. Please, handle your stones with great care, do not grind or crumble them, do not dip or add them into your food or drink, do not use any parts of them in any elixirs, potions, lotions etc. Always make sure you wash your hands before and after working with your crystals.).

Gorgeous Gemstone, Perfect for Education!

Based on my experience this specimen is absolutely stunning with its sparkling shine and unique texture. It`s perfect for displaying in a classroom or home setting and is a great conversation starter. It's also a great tool for TEACHING students about minerals and their properties. However, the size of the specimen may be smaller than expected..

Pros
  • Gorgeous shine and texture, excellent for educational purposes
Cons
  • Smaller size than expected

I was sent a very poor sample for the price.

Definitely not what was in the photo! I was sent a very poor sample for the price. I'd happily take a replacement with larger clusters in exchange for a better view. My sample didn't have large clusters as shown in the picture. I have a very small growth that is barely visible from any internet on the whole piece. Need better shipping protection. When it arrived there were crumbs of small crystals all over the bottom of the box. I would not order here again.

Pros
  • Barite often replaces other minerals and can even replace organic materials such as wood, shells and fossils. It sometimes forms tuffaceous hills due to deposits from barium-rich hot springs. It is isomorphic and very similar in shape to the mineral celestite and can partially replace it. Chemical formula: BaSO4; Color: colorless, white, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, brown, blue, green, gray and black. Hardness: 3 - 3.5; Specific Gravity: 4.3-4.6
