We have used this product several times and it has been good or bad. Basically it all depends on the steak you buy and sometimes you will get different readings. The first read will say "Medium done" and after 2 minutes it will say "Rare done" in the same place.

The display shows a series of squares as the temperature rises. The grit is too coarse to control the temperature of the steak. When the thermometer registers the actual temperature of the steak, it is already above the advertised temperature. With Thermapen you can do better. Wouldn't buy again.

I've tried this Charcoal Companion CC4073 Steak Station Thermometer 5 times and it doesn't track the temperature of every steak. I followed the instructions completely. Every time I inserted the probe, it revealed a well-done steak. I trusted this product and when I checked my steak it was absolutely rare! This product doesn't work at all.

We bought 3 steak stations (1 from Amazon and 2 from the kitchen store) and all 3 eventually failed. Our first steak station worked really well and we took a lot from it. Our second failed much faster, but continued to work for several months. However, our last purchase (from Revain) stopped working in the middle of the first use!
