I was very surprised when my petite 5 year old girl put size 5 plants on her which arrived and they didn't fit. They were actually too short, which never happens with my daughter because she is so small. I trusted the product description that it was true to size but that is not our experience. For me it was a waste of money. I am extremely disappointed.

My daughter is not tall, but she is not short either, she is 9 years old, her height and weight are average. She had outgrown her school uniform at a size 8 and I *tried* to get her a better size 10. These pants are skinny like an 8 at the waist and long like a 10 in the legs. Worse, they're spiky, the fit is long (the seam of which rubbed against her legs all day making her comfortable) and one of the buttons fell off the first wash.

I bought these in a size 5T as a one size pant for my very tall 3.5 year old. At that age I put cuffs on my bottom and over the years they started to fit better. I deliberately chose this pair because many other reviewers have mentioned that they are too skinny for their kids.
