Not suitable for the solar system. It adds line resistance and heats up. Because of this, performance fluctuates and drops. I bought and installed two of these to use as disconnect and circuit breakers. One for the battery circuit and one for the solar panels. However, they are very difficult to reset if you press the button to disable them. I thought I had a bad solar regulator until I checked the voltage with a voltmeter. I found that both circuits were open when the lever was in the closed position. I'm not sure what the secret of resetting it is, but just because the hand returns to its original position doesn't
