The product works, but be careful.

I bought this before reading these reviews. Hope this saves someone else the heartache. This product is designed for the original Linksys BEFW11S4 router. Since the V3 model, the antennas have been changed. I have a V3 and the antennas are not suitable for the WSB24 signal amplifier. I know the V4 version of the router is out now, but I don't know if the antennas have changed. Look for the serial number on the bottom of the router. Next to it is the model number, which contains the version. I…

Not bad, but: Networking products

There's a better way to solve your wireless range problem for less. I've been using my WSB24 for a few months and have probably noticed a 25% increase in throughput at the far ends of the house (important as we currently have 3 thermostats, 2 TiVos, a variable number of laptops and a new Linksys 802.11b camera , all via WLAN ). Anyway, I recently added 2 more BEFW11S4 combo routers (wired and wireless) and instead of plugging my ethernet cable into my local PC I plugged them into additional…

Add this to your Linksys AP when you need the band

). only 2 floors, construction of wood, lathe and plaster). I first installed a Linksys BEFW11S4 cable/DSL router and only had marginal good reception about 50 feet through the walls from the BEFW11S4. Installing WSB24 took less than 60 seconds. It's on top of the router - same footprint. At the edge, signal strength improved from good to excellent. Eight computers, both Macs and PCs, have excellent Internet connections through a single router and DSL interface. PRO: small size, works as…

Pros
  • Easy to install - fold, plug in and go
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Better, but not better

Of all the network devices I've added to the home, this was the easiest to install. You take your existing WiFi router, unscrew the antennas, connect them to a booster, and then plug the booster into the router where your antennas used to be. Before I bought it, I had signal strength issues. I had occasional dropouts even though there wasn't much interference or distance between my router and my computers. I have to give Linksys credit: this booster *really* improved my network signal quality…

Pros
  • A stronger signal increases throughput by reducing retransmissions
Cons
