No automatic shutdown. There is very little space to hold the two ends together and the hair will slip out. Definitely not for fine hair. I personally don't like it. The design needs to be redesigned to keep both sides together when twisted, or add space to hold the device with fingers. I like the compact size. I do not recommend it and will not use it.

Love the size and comfort of this item for travel and picked it specifically because I like Conair but what I don't like about it is that it stays open and hold must be closed during use, which is not easy and very inconvenient. It has a spring that keeps it open, but it would be better if it stayed clamped in, like a regular curling iron, which you push to open when you push a section of curls in. Very small and doesn't pinch my hair and I have very thin hair. He's tiny. More like a doll toy than a real styling tool. I'm very upset that the seller didn't include a receipt or return label so I couldn't get a refund.

I love this product! I took it because I'm going on a 3 month trip to Europe. The size is perfect! It heats up really fast. Make perfect curls! And it smoothes well too! It took a little longer than usual, but that's the reward for being so small. In this picture, the hairsprayed curls are about 2.5 hours old. It didn't come with a suitcase, but oh well.

If you have fine or short hair, this product is perfect. It's very small but perfect for my hair. I use it for everyday use as I don't like things that take up a lot of space. If you don't plan on using it every day, it's not bad for thicker or longer hair.

This is a replacement for what I have had for many years. I thought it would wear out and I wouldn't be able to find it again. Now I'm ready for the day he dies. It's small for travel and has an insulated pocket so you can pop it in while it's still warm, so you don't have to try to chill it to pack or toss in a drawer.
