Get in Touch Review

Following the huge success of 'Send One Your Love' in 2009, fans have been eagerly awaiting Bonnie James' next release called 'Contact'. This album contains mostly smooth slow songs and vocal tracks with very little groove and funk which is a little disappointing. The album is nice to have and listen to, but falls far short of Boni's previous work. First of all, as a jazz teacher, I would like to say that although Boney James is an excellent horn player, he is an R&B (rhythm and blues) player, but not a jazz saxophonist. Listen to John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker to name a few, this is a Jazzman. However, I really enjoy listening to Boni's music, I have almost all of his CDs and have had the pleasure of meeting him. one day, and he's a fine, gifted young man. I bought this album from Revain.com and personally I don't care about the vocals in my Smooth Jazz unless it's someone like Elian Elias singing or Candy Moten with Kirk Whalum on "All I Do" . " Boney's previous album "Send One Your Love" I really liked. But "Contact" seems to have neither concept nor order. A gentle jazz song, then vocals and such.
