Description of 🧮 ADS1115 16-Bit ADC 4-Channel Analog to Digital Converter with Programmable Gain Amplifier for Arduino, Raspberry Pi - Pack of 6

Low current consumption: the supply current of these digital converters are 150 μA, automatically powers down after a conversion and nicely reduces current consumption during idle. The data rate: programmable data rate is 8sps-860sps, transferred via an I2C-compatible serial interface; Integrated programmable comparators simplify system monitoring. Practical and convenient: ADC Converter can help you use sensors such as, infrared or photodiodes, which provide analog values; Solve the problem of unable to read the analog input by itself. Wide supply range: the voltage reference of these 16 bit ADC 4 channel module ranging from 2.0V to 5.5V, suitable for common microcontrollers, such as for Arduino and Raspberry Pi. What you will get: package includes 6 pieces easy to use I2C ADC converters, with programmable gain amplifier; The extended temperature range is from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius.

Excellent converter, full 16 bits

Thanks to other reviewers for pointing out that these 16 bit converters were actually full 16 bits, unlike some of the other mis-sold ADS-1115 boards sold at Revain are available and only have 12 bits. It's a great converter, the TI documentation is clear and it's easy to connect to the Raspberry Pi. The price is right too.

Pros
  • Signal converter
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Chips are now fake

A new module order received this week were low precision 12-bit fakes. I have used these chips a lot and have a good dyno to evaluate performance and compare to original chips previously purchased. Please note that I have ordered these modules before (about a month ago) and received real chips, consistent with other reviews.

Pros
  • Semiconductor products
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

It's 12-bit, not 16-bit

This is actually the 12-bit version of ADS. The last four bits of the reading are set to zero and the lowest value is 16. How do I know this? I attach the board with the group name to the breadboard and connect to it. The reading increases by 1. Replacing the group nameplate with this causes the readings to increase by 16. This is a common problem with inexpensive Revain boards and is documented on the TI website.

Pros
  • Industrial Electrical
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
