Sunburns No More: A Review of the Cooling Balaclava

I recently tried the cooling balaclava for sun protection during cycling and running, and I have mixed feelings. While the concept is great - keeping your head and neck cool while shielding it from the sun - the execution falls a bit short. The material is indeed breathable, but it doesn't actually feel that cooling. Additionally, the fit is a bit odd and sits weirdly on my face, which is distracting while trying to focus on my workout. However, I must say that the balaclava does deliver on its

  • When I'm working outside I just dump some water on my head and its no longer unbearably hot

  • I use this for cutting grass and I still get grass around my neck

Great for wind protection while cycling.

I cycle to work and wear balaclava face masks mostly for protection from the wind and sun. There's definitely a lot of sand and debris that gets thrown up by trucks on the highway so I appreciate protection from that as well.These EXski masks are fine for summer use and allow enough air flow that I'm not burning up inside.
