Solid speakers with muddy bass.

I got them after being very impressed with the Creative GigaWorks T20s I bought for my girlfriend's PC. While these T40s are louder and definitely have more powerful bass, the overall sound profile is actually worse. It seems like Creative was keen to cater to those bass-hungry teenagers, and the end result is a sound profile that's muddy and muted compared to the crystal-clear T20s. balanced sound and are in the desktop speaker market, save some money and just get the T20s.

They sound AMAZING when you tune them right!

I'M IN LOVE!. I bought a set of these Creative Gigaworks T-40 Series II (2.0 due to lack of space) active hi-fi speakers, but my computer still sounded dirty, so I bought a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD USB sound card to compliment them , and BINGO, the system sounds amazing. Speakers alone cannot fix PC sound as most of them only have an integrated sound processor in a noisy motherboard. I don't watch TV, so I like to sit in front of the computer in the evenings and now I can jam while…

Good for the price. Stupid auto/off function sucks

I've had a lot of different computer speakers over the years, all in this price range. Creative GigaWorks plays well with others I've had. Most speakers I've used before have 2 speakers plus a subwoofer, but I like the Gigaworks approach: two speakers is better and no subwoofer. For 90% of the things I do the subwoofer is overkill anyway, IMHO. In general, the sound is good. The built-in amplifier is sufficient, I like the sound. One thing I don't like is the way it turns itself off. As…

Best Bookshelf/Tabletop Speakers In This Price Range

These are not small units, but not so large as to be unwieldy or unwieldy. They are well suited for installation next to a monitor or on an entertainment center. These are basically high-performance midrange drivers with a tweeter and bass port, so they reproduce the full spectrum of sound without having to make room for a separate bass unit. Bass is rich and clear at low to medium volumes, but you may need to reduce the bass output at higher volumes to keep them from overwhelming everything…

T40 versus T20 (and T30)

I wanted a set for my bedroom. I read a lot of reviews before buying the T20 because I was wondering how they compare to the T40. Some say the T20 is weak in the mid/low frequencies, while others say the T40 is too strong in the mid/low frequencies. In my experience it really depends on the room you are using them in. I ended up putting the T20 in my office and the T40 in my bedroom. Why? My bedroom has a lot of heavy stuff (soft velvet headboard and bed, bedside tables, lampshades and…

Much more than enough

I am the last music lover. But I know what I like and I know good, full, clean sound when I hear it. These speakers offer just that. The sound is fantastic. I realize this could be related to the old Altec Lansings I had previously (although they were pretty good for their time too) but I think these speakers are very solid. but still quite clear and precise. High frequencies are bright but not harsh and piercing. Separate settings for the bass and treble controls are welcome and, when set…

Excellent speakers with a small flaw.

These are amazing speakers with plenty of power and great sound quality. automatically if there is no sound after a while (maybe 10 minutes), which basically turns the speakers off. When sound is sent to them, they wake up from sleep mode. The problem is that this wake-up takes a few seconds, so you lose the first few seconds of playback. It doesn't seem like such a big deal, but for PC speakers, you don't get system alerts when you're not playing music or whatever. Those little noises that let

Great, but there's a fatal error

I wish I'd paid more attention to the minority of poorly rated reviews that clearly identified the problem. For your purposes this may not be a problem, in which case you can consider them 5-star speakers. So I'll start with the good points: they have great sound quality for the price. The front headphone connection is practical. The bass/treble controls work well. The stands on the bottom make them fairly stable but take up quite a bit of space (my cat loves to tip things over but they stay…

Great speakers but NOT BETTER THAN T-20

Hi guys, so I first bought this speaker set and T-20 to compare. So here's my review: This isn't for bass lovers. If the sense of rhythm is more important, you should get a 2.1 stereo system. However, if you want a set of FLAT speakers, which are essentially budget studio monitors, this is your best bet. These speakers have a very natural and enjoyable bass that is not weak but really goes with your music as it should. Additionally, dedicated tweeters provide snare and hi-hat clarity that many…
